My Story
Sophie is a Bachelor of Health Studies (Neuromuscular Massage Therapy) graduate. Originally from the Manawatu she found a short massage therapy course in Auckland (ended up staying to complete the degree) and hasn't looked back.
She believes massage is a powerful therapy and understands how chronic and acute stress affects the body and it's systems. By incorporating the many tools on her tool belt it is her aim to have her clients feeling the best they can.
The relationship she builds with her clients is integral and a big part of why she loves what she does!
Sophie has also taught on the Level 5 and 6 massage diploma courses at The New Zealand College of Massage and The New Zealand College of Chinese Medicine. Her enthusiasm and passion for massage was made stronger through teaching the upcoming massage therapists.
Sophie is now dedicated to working full time in clinic and tries to bring that little bit of education to her clients so they can better understand how to help themselves.

Sophie has also recently welcomed Maisie (a four-legged fury friend) into the clinic. Maisie provides an extra special touch to the experience of PurposeNMT. She will be in clinic on selected days. If this is at all an issue please enquire before coming in for your appointment.
After about 15 years of dentist and orthodontic work Sophie was experiencing intense jaw pain, clicking, tension as well as severe headaches. NMT has helped her immensely and she has brought the same relief to many of her clients who didn't know what or who could help them.

As of January 2025 Sophie has been diagnosed with Relapsing Remitting Multiple Sclerosis, an autoimmune disease that affects the myelin sheath of a nerve fibre. Sophie remains dedicated to the clinic and doing her best to look after herself while keeping a healthy work/life balance.
She is an active board member of Massage Aotearoa New Zealand (MANZ) and an affiliated Southern Cross (SC) provider.

Treatments
Think of these as the many tools on a tool belt. During a massage treatment different tools are used to get the best results. Want specific deep work on an area while also allowing time to get that relaxed and "floaty" feeling?

No problem! During the interview stage of the session this can be discussed and a treatment plan agreed to so you get exactly what you're after.
